here's a quick and dirty info post
I will make something pretty at some later point perhaps. But for now I am realizing I should probably give a quick rundown of wtf the canon unfamiliar are looking at with this journal!
What is this character from? Deltarune! That funny freaky Toby Fox RPG! It's a pretty cool time!
What is this character's name? That's unfortunately a more complicated question than the last one! "Pippins" is his species and also more than likely what he goes by as a name, Pokémon-style. Some fans call him "Battat" and I may use that too depending on context. Whatever his name is, it's definitely not Mike.
What is this character . . . yeah uh full stop right there? In Deltarune, many of the characters are "Darkners," which in the "real world" (Light World) are everyday inanimate objects. In the Dark World, they've been given form—you could think of them as imaginary friends of sorts. They're the way an active imagination might perceive "things" it was struggling to see in a darkness blacker than black, forming them into sentient beings.
Pippins specifically are six-sided dice! His literal physical form is straight up just this. His "hexagon"-shaped head is actually a cube viewed head-on (with a vertex pointed at you). As a Darkner, he is not "real" and doesn't have a soul, but he is still alive and a "person" in a sense, ish, and can die and stuff. Ha ha! Die.
What am I looking at other than a stock photo of some dice? In his Dark World form, he is around five feet tall, with a vague but humanoid fleshy white body with three-fingered hands. His head is a D6. Kind of. It's also kind of just a head! He has a face with a nose (only visible in profile) and his head manages to give an impression of being both a person's head and a plastic cube at the same time, leaning in one direction or the other depending on context.
He wears black dress slacks and shoes, a white dress shirt with a green tie, and a black and green capelet with long green gloves. It's an overall Slick Casino Worker kind of vibe, 'cuz you know, dice.
What's the personality elevator pitch? Pippins as a species are heavy gamblers, cheaters, and con artists, known for messing around and slacking off, placing bets with each other on everything they can think of and looking to make a quick buck at others' expenses.
This Pippins specifically has made a uhhhh series of choices in his life and doesn't hang with the others so much anymore! His con artist nature has led him down the road of a long, long con, entangling him in a web of lies and obsession and, I cannot stress this enough, extreme stupidity. He is high-strung, smug, highly critical, impulsive, rude, overly emotional, and deeply out of touch with his own feelings and desires.
But hey, he's a skilled and very hard worker! Oh god he works so hard. Please help him
